Julie Halvorson.jpgJulie is the Local Program Director at the Northwest Arkansas Head Start Rogers Hallie Martin Center. She started in 1995 as a teacher aide. She has a CDA certificate and has continued to take courses. Julie and her husband have two children. Julie enjoys gardening and volunteering at the local dog park.

At the Northwest Arkansas Head Start Rogers Hallie Martin Center we provide quality child care and education services. We employ highly qualified staff who are both professional and dedicated to our children and families we serve.  This year, we will be working hard to maintain accreditation with ECERS.  We are also implementing new methods and striving to increase parental involvement in the program.

The Rogers Hallie Martin location is the largest of 11 centers in the Northwest Arkansas Head Start Agency.  We have 4 classrooms and provide services to 72 children and their families. The vast majority of our new enrollments come via referrals from past families and relatives who liked our program, thought it was very beneficial, and wanted to be a part of it. We serve a diverse NWA population and employ a diverse staff as well.

Volunteers:
  • Junior Auxillary: comes on a regular basis each month to provide our monthly birthday party.
  • Beaver Lake Aviation: sponsors and supports our Center by providing donations for our families during the Seasonal time.

    Our location is a State Quality Approved childcare facility, providing a higher quality overall program. Given this designation, we have been proven to not only meet, but exceed the standards providing:
    • A program that views parents as an important part of the early education of their children,
    • A physical environment that is supportive of the physical and mental development of each child in our care,
    • An educational program that prepares children for success in school,
    • Trained professional staff who know how to work effectively with children and who continue to pursue educational and training opportunities.

    Licensing

    All Northwest Arkansas Head Start Centers are compliant, Licensed Child Care Providers. Our licenses are issued by the State of Arkansas Department of Health & Human Services Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. NWAHS invites you to view our licensing status via the DHHS Website.

    Door Entry Security

    kes_02.jpgOur Keyless Entry System limits access to our Head Start centers by allowing entry only to authorized staff and families. Unique ID codes are assigned to each person. Codes may be disabled at any time providing a safe, secure environment for children and peace of mind for parents. Our system keeps a live record of who enters our buildings allowing us to monitor building access in real time or by printing a daily log. Each ID code may also be placed on a restricted list directly from our center computer.
